Endometriosis is a disorder in which tissue that lines the uterus grows outside it. Some symptoms of endometriosis are pain with intercourse and excessive bleeding. It may also lead to infertility.

What is adenomyosis?

Adenomyosis, a condition similar to endometriosis, differs in that it is characterized by the inner lining of the uterus breaking through into the uterine wall. Some symptoms of adenomyosis are prolonged periods and severe menstrual cramps.

Endometriosis treatment and adenomyosis treatment are both dependent on the severity of the patient’s signs or symptoms. While initial treatment may consist of medication such as anti-inflammatory drugs or hormonal therapy, surgery may be recommended if they do not have any effect.
